Description

Glensheen Historic Estate is a 39-room mansion built between 1905 and 1908 for Chester A. Congdon and Clara Congdon in Duluth, Minnesota. Situated on 12 acres of lake-front grounds along Lake Superior, the estate features opulent architecture in the Jacobean Revival style, finely crafted woodwork and interiors, and original furnishings — offering a rare preserved glimpse into early 20th-century affluent life. Today, it is maintained as a historic house museum by University of Minnesota Duluth and welcomes visitors for guided or self-guided tours, allowing them to explore both the mansion and its gardens, boathouse, and lakeside grounds.
