The Lake County Historical Society (LCHS) is a nonprofit organization based in Two Harbors, Minnesota, dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Lake County. It operates multiple historic-site museums — including the early 1907 railroad depot museum, the original building of the company that became 3M (as a “3M Birthplace Museum”), and a historic lighthouse complex — offering visitors a broad look at local history: shipping, mining, logging, railroads, early industry, lighthouse heritage and community life. Through curated exhibits of artifacts, photographs, documents, and historic structures, LCHS provides educational value for both residents and travelers exploring the region’s past and present heritage.
